How Hawaii’s film industry is leading the ‘safe way forward’

From Pacific Business News – After the initial shutdowns caused many businesses and industries to close and reevaluate amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Hawaii’s film industry was one of the first to reopen.

At the state film office, Hawaii State Film Commissioner Donne Dawson leads a team of four whose main core function is to provide film permits for productions wishing to shoot on Hawaii public land by collaborating with the Department of Land and Natural Resources, the Department of Transportation, and private agencies. According to Dawson, the film industry has “taken the lead” in establishing the Covid safety model in its productions, in an effort to keep people safe and working on projects. More…
