Who is Team Aloha?
Team Aloha is a dynamic team of industry professionals led by the Hawai‘i Island Film Office to engage, and host visiting filmmakers and content creators.
Our team is ready to help facilitate your needs and navigate any questions along the way to having a smooth running production. Some of the areas we can help include:
Cultural Delegates:
We can help facilitate a native Hawaiian that speaks Hawaiian and is familiar with traditions, cultural sensitivities and sacred sites that can be assigned to your production. This person will have training in protocols and processes of the film industry and will be a partner in the process. We suggest that you plan for a cultural delegate to participate for the production’s initial scout, technical scout and first shooting day, then “on call” for the production’s location manager.
Location Scouts:
On-island scouts who are “endorsed” by the Hawai‘i Island Film Office are a part of Team Aloha. These professionals host, photograph and provide a digital package for visiting filmmakers and content creators.
Permitting
There may be many questions along the way through the permitting process. Team Aloha is here to help your production cut straight through and provide you with answers and resources to quickly position your production for success.

What is “Aloha”?
It was the working philosophy of native Hawaiians and was presented as a gift to the people of Hawaii. “Aloha” is more than a word of greeting or farewell or a salutation. “Aloha” means mutual regard and affection and extends warmth in caring with no obligation in return.
Traits of Aloha include:
“Akahai” meaning kindness to be expressed with tenderness;
“Lokahi” meaning unity, to be expressed with harmony;
“Oluolu” meaning agreeable, to be expressed with pleasantness;
“Haahaa” meaning humility, to be expressed with modesty;
“Ahonui” meaning patience, to be expressed with perseverance.
